Ashford will be away to Barton Rovers on Saturday, kick-off 3.00 p.m.  The address of the ground is 3-7 Luton Rd, Barton-le-Clay, Bedford MK45 4LQ  and it is a journey of 46 miles each way and another one that we will probably be making for the last time, given the pending re-structure at the end of the season.

Barton have been amongst the clubs in the upper half of the table in recent times but they have not fared quite so well this season and are currently in 20th place in the table.  Recent league form though shows an indication of improved form with a 1-0 win at Aylesbury, followed last Saturday by a defeat but only 1-2 against Hayes & Yeading United.  They also lost 1-4 to a Luton side in the Bedfordshire Senior Cup in midweek.

Last season, we beat them 6-3 at home in quite a remarkable match, that saw Barton take the lead, only for Ashford to turn it round and lead 5-1 in the second half.  We suddenly conceded two goals and it wasn’t until Kam English had the final say with our sixth goal that we finally secured the points.  It must have been galling for Baton’s Elliott Bailey, who scored a hatrick, including two from the spot.  It was a far less entertaining match at Barton where the sides fought out a 1-1 draw.

We have our most local derby coming up this Tuesday, 5 December, when we make the short trip to Egham Town, kick-off 7.45 p.m.
