Ashford welcome Bedford Town to Short Lane this afternoon as we return to the League.   They arrive in 12th place with their recent results giving little clue as to their current form.  They were defeated heavily in an FA Trophy replay against Brentwood in the week but in their last league match they hammered Kempston Rovers 5-1.  Recent home matches have seen them drawing with both Hartley Wintney and, possibly more surprisingly, with Northwood.

As for ourselves, the last minute winner against Hastings last week has seen us rewarded with a home tie against Kingstonian, from the Bostick League, Premier, one level higher than us.  They needed a replay to get past Thurrock on Tuesday but did so with a 4-1 victory  That match is now next Saturday, with the away game against Hanwell Town to be re-arranged.

Before that we travel to The Hive, home of Barnet FC on Tuesday to play them in the Middlesex Senior Cup.  There will be full details on the web site in due course.

Last Tuesday we sent something of a patched up squad to meet South Park in the Surrey Senior Cup and all looked good early on with goals from Will Boye and Jack Beadle giving us a 2-0 lead.  Our opponents though came back strongly in the second half and eventuall pulled it back to two apiece with around ten minutes left.  We then had two superb chances to nick a winner right at the death but the home keeper pulled off two stupendous saves from Jack Beadle and Leo Decabo to ensure the match was drawn.  There is no extra time in the Surrey Senior Cup so the game went straight to penalties where we lost 2-4.

Although no-one ever wants to go out of a cup, it may just be a blessing in disguise, given that the FA Cup and now the Trophy run have resulted in a lot of league matches having to be re-arranged and we wish South Park every success in the next round.
