Ashford held their AGM on Thursday 11 May 2017.

Unlike one or two in the past, matters proceeded smoothly!  Paul Blair and Steve Clark were voted in as Football Secretary and Finance Director respectively, to replace Geoff Knock and Jason Brown, both of whom had indicated that they wished to stand down although both will be remaining on the General Committee.  Steve has been with the club right back to the 60’s and has performed many roles for Ashford, including long stints behind the bar in the past and is also an ex-player.  Paul was previously the Secretary of Ash United and is a councillor with Surrey County FA, specialising amongst other things, in Chartered Standard and Welfare.  He is also an active officer of the Combined Counties League Management structure.

All of last season’s directors and committee members were voted back in and there will be a new addition to the committee in the shape of Paul Mann, who, along with his wife, has been a faithful supporter of the club for a number of years.  Paul is an ex-referee who started to support Ashford when his son Jim Mann was playing for the Club.  The first meeting of the new Committee will be on Thursday 8 June (8.00 p.m. at the Club).

Two people were also elected to the honorary position of Vice-President.  One is Paul Burgess, now with Spelthorne Sports but who holds the records for the highest number of appearances for the club before going on to become manager.  Paul indicated a little while ago that he would be pleased to accept the invitation and the whole membership were unanimous in accepting the proposal.  We will name the other person once we have received his formal acceptance

The majority of the pre-season matches have now been resolved but we are still looking for an away match on Saturday 15 July against any club from Step 6 upwards and a home or away game against ideally Step 2/3 opposition on Saturday 29 July.  Anyone reading this who would be interested in filling one of these spots should please contact Alan Constable at This email address is being protected from spambots. There are still a few spare seats for the Presentation Evening tonight at the Meadhurst Club in Sunbury when all the awards will be announced and the medals given out.  Please get in touch if you would like to come at the last minute.
