Ashford are delighted to announce that Paul Blair has agreed to take up the post of Football Secretary for next season, following the decision of Geoff Knock to stand down at the end of the season, although he will be remaining with the Club as a member of the Committee.

Director Alan Constable said “it happened by chance really, I was with Paul at a match and mentioned that we were looking for a new Football Secretary, and half-jokingly I asked him if he fancied the job.  He did not turn it down though and after attending last week’s committee meeting he has agreed to take it up”.

Paul was previously the very competent Secretary of Ash United in the CCL and is also a member of Surrey County FA, with specialist knowledge of Chartered Standard matters.  He is also highly competent in IT matters and a member of the CCL Management Committee.

We are also pleased to be able to announce that Steve Clark, a long time club servant, has agreed to take up the post of Finance Director, following the resignation of Jason Brown, who will also be staying with the club.  Steve will hopefully have the expertise of Sue Cox and Jamie Brunton to steer him though, although he is well versed in the way the club works and is well prepared for the job, with an economics degree and a background in pub administration and finance along with his own recruitment business.

Subject to being voted in by members at the AGM on 11 May, both Paul and Steve will take over from that date.

Following yesterday’s win over Farnborough (summary to follow shortly), the club looks to be in a good position as the end of the season approaches and will look forward to season 17-18 with great anticipation.
