Ashford Ladies were back to winning ways on Sunday as they put in a dominant performance to beat London Phoenix  7-1 at the John Ronan Playing Fields and in so doing, clinch the championship of their Division in the Greater London Women's League.

After experiencing defeat for the first time this season in their last outing, Ashford were determined to turn things around and did just that when Ashley Cheatley played through Charmaine Benham to open the scoring.  The front two repeated their combination minutes after however Benham could only fire over as the goalkeeper came rushing out.

London Phoenix fired back with a goal to bring the scoreline level but top goalscorer Cheatley grabbed two goals before setting up Irisha Smith for her first in as many games.

The teams returned in the second half when Frida Larsson and Lavana Neufville were introduced to the game. Neufville then grabbed her first before the player of the match achieved her milestone of 50 goals in all competitions for Ashford!

Ashford ran out 7-1 winners in this very one sided affair

The next game sees the Tangerines back at home against Hammersmith Starz which is due to be a very entertaining game.  This is on Sunday this week and should be an excellent match with the visitors in 2nd place.  Kick-off is 2.00 p.m. so why not come along (no charge) and welcome the champions home.

The Ladies have also reached the Quarter-Final of the Middlesex County Capital Womens’ Cup in which they have been drawn at home to either Greenhouse Sports Ladies or Tower Hamlets Ladies.  Assuming the previous round has been resolved, this game is due to take place on Sunday 21 February.
