Ashfords progress in the CCL continued at Knaphill today, Manager Ben Murray returned to the dugout and was forced into a change to the starting line up for the first time this season, Jack Beadle was slotted into a cover as full back for the absent Alex Fisher and a change offensively saw the return of Scott Harris. Ashford started very much on the front foot causing concern within the home sides defence after just three minutes with Knaphill stopper Shelley called upon with some important early saves. It wasn't long before Ashford had the advantage with some excellent interplay allowing Dan Fleming to open his account for the day. Ashford now had the upper hand and it was only going to be a matter of time before the scoreline was doubled and who else but Scott Harris who collected the ball on the edge of the box and made easy work of rounding the impressive Shelley to make it 0-2. After half time Knaphill had a very different approach and could well have drawn level albeit for the impressive Tyler Tobin in the Ashford goal. Ashford regained control of the game and soon gained further advantage with a Team Goal finished by Dan Fleming, Knaphill to their credit gave everything in an attempt to turn things round, Murray freshened things up with the introduction of Joe Hughes And Connor Moody and with his first touch of the ball Moody found the top corner to make it 0-4.Effectively the game was over but not for Knaphill, they continued to threaten the Ashford goal which will im sure give their management Team confidence as they certainly have the basis of a very good side in the months to come. We wish them well and look forward to their visit to the Robert Parker Stadium later in the season. Also worth a mention is the hospitality that welcomed us on our arrival and we thank you all at Knaphill for making us feel so welcome.
