Ashford welcomed a home fixture after two tough away fixtures, with Manager Ben Murray away on business Team affairs where left to Mark Green to mastermind a victory over Camberley Town. Ashford started well and the visitors found themselves under pressure from the start. Camberley defended well at times but that did not dampen the mood of this very young and talented Ashford side. Camberley have their keeper to thank as he was the far busier and it could only be a matter of time before Ashford broke the deadlock but Camberley's well organised defenders. A fierce effort from Mark Bitmead had clearly beaten the keeper only to hit the post. Ashford also well organised limited the away side to a couple of half chances from which they never looked like finding the back of the net.
The second half was all Ashford and it surely was only a matter if time before the deadlock was broken, Camberley now getting very frustrated and looking very tired allowed Ashford to dominate the second half and looking the more likely to find the winner. Ashford rung the changes which proved to be the deciding factor of this game. At ninety minutes it looked as if the points where to be shared up until the 94th minute when a free kick for a wild tackle on the edge of the box was awarded to Ashford, enter Joe Hughes who's effort left the impressive Camberley keeper rooted found the top corner.
A well earned three points for the Tangerines now we have a small matter of the F A Cup at home to Berkhamstead on Saturday will be a tough test for the boys, the support has been brilliant to date and the boys will need it all again for this tie.
