Ashford looked to get their season underway tonight, the pitch in superb condition was the invite to get the ball down and play.It wasn't long before the game opened up and what for an excellent finger tip save from Ashford Keeper Tyler Tobin the homeside could have been ahead. The Ash Trees took the lead through Jack Beadle, some excellent inter play found Beadle in space but with work to do, he shifted the ball from left to right to beat Ex Ashford Keeper Lee Pearce with an excellent finish. The home side looked shell shocked and it wasn't long before Mark Bitmead was found in space, his pace was to much for the fullback which lead to the cross which found Dan Fleming in the right position to open his account for the club.
The home side continued to play their way and creating chances all being thwarted by the The Ash Trees keeper who at present is in excellent form. As half time was approaching the home side where clearly frustrated and started to give away needless free kicks.
Half time came and went and there where clearly strong words from both managers at half time, the home side had the possession stakes but failed to break down a rejuvenated Ashford back line. The turning point in the game was the sending off for the home side for a horror tackle on Skipper Russell Canderton as at that time the away side had the run of play. The next goal may well have decided the game as it was now very evenly matched with Pearce being the busier of the two keepers. As the game came to its end an excellent period of play found Rob Curtis who's effort from all of 25 yards beet Pearce to make it 0-3 and ensured the Ash Trees took away the full compliment of points.
Job Well done by Everybody from the Management through to the Kit Man.
